Well we are racing towards completion and the film is definitely 8 mins or so of 'weird and wonderful'. We have a talented post-production team working on the VFX and soundscape and really happy to have got permission from a musician I really admire to use one of his songs on the end credits - it's all very exciting. We also have a new poster which will be released next month.
Happy to announce that a new short film script, "The Death of Dracula", has been written/subbed/signed off and will be a future DrAx production. A shooting date has been pencilled in - subject to financing. If interested in discussing further please email@ hello@drax-productions.com
Hurrah ! The first film under the DrAx Productions banner has been completed and will start to be entered into festivals. It was produced by Dean M. Drinkel; written & directed by Sharon Axcell (co-founder of DrAx) and stars Suzanne Kendall. Full crew list can be found on the DrAx website - for those that have asked, poster image and all Unit Stills were by Augustin Hardy. Can't wait for you all to see it. Congrats to the team !
Dean and editor Fred Fournier are close to completing 'picture lock' ready for the film to be sent over to the VFX/Sound team. It is looking like just under 10 minutes of pure madness (in a good way) with some great performances which we know the audience is going to love...
The advanced development of the Rimbaud project continues with script, deck and budget 'signed off', location sourced and discussions in hand with preferred principal actor as well as other cast and, of course, crew. If you're interested in knowing more (and/or investing) then please get in touch. Remember we still have S/EIS and EIS investment opportunities [in DrAx Productions].
Edits coming along very very nicely and hopefully in the not too distant future everything will be wrapped up and we can start entering the film into festivals...a testament to the great cast/crew that I worked with !
So a proper announcement in due course but it looks like my next project will be the short film (a horror in period setting) is a Night In Hell.
Not to be coy but I won't say too much just yet but here's the initial poster and if there are any investors who are interested, well, you know where to find me: dean@drax-productions.com
Regular readers will know that Kevin is a brilliant actor (and a really nice guy in real life) - I've been lucky to work with him on the short "Musketeer" and then I directed him a couple of months back in "The Devil Is In The Detail" and am planning to work with him again (watch this space !). I've been working with the editor on Fred and Kevin's performance in 'Devil' is really top-notch.
Not many people appear to know that Kevin is also an accomplished script writer and during downtime on "Musketeer" I mentioned to him that I was also a publisher (through my genre company DEMAIN) - he said he had written a book and would I be interested in publishing it. I read it in one sitting and of course the answer was yes.
Kevin does sell signed copies of his book "Sons of Sol" at conventions BUT if you want to grab a copy on Amazon, link below. It is very good.
Just a mini-update: rough assembly has been put together and now Dean and editor (Fred Fournier) are working on the rough cut. It all looks very very cool indeed.

The Devil is in the Detail Film (drax-productions.com)
June 2024 saw production of "The Devil Is In The Detail" - written and directed by Dean M Drinkel and produced by Sharon Axcell through their DrAx Productions.
This horror short stars Kevin McNally as the devilish Nikolaos Apollyon and Dion Marcos as innocent Scott Beatty (with Richard Carnaby as the mysterious barman Eurynomos).
The film was shot at the Crypt Gallery opposite Euston Station and was supported by a great crew and also some superb Background Artists.
A special shout out also to Production Designer Lily Knight who transformed the space into 'Dante's Bar'...awesome work !
The film is progressing through post-production and should be ready for delivery end of September 2024.
Happy to announce that some film reviews I'd written a little while ago have now been published by the team at We Belong Dead. I really enjoy doing this - time allowing !
First up was a piece on 'Frankenstein Unbound' for the Roger Corman special. Kudos to the editorial team to getting this out only a short while after Roger's passing - I'm sure he'd be proud.
Then for for "Unsung Horrors Has Risen From The Grave" I wrote two reviews, 'As Above So Below' and 'Two Evil Eyes' - great fun and if you check them out, enjoy!
Clive Barker and in particular the movie Hellraiser (and it's sequels Hellbound and Hell on Earth) have been a massive inspiration over the years.
Dean was asked by Phantasmagoria editor/publisher to contribute a piece to a Hellraiser special - so as well as writing a small article on Hellbound, Dean also interviewed Female Cenobite (from Hellbound) Barbie Wilde - both of which were a great honour.
Trevor subsequently arranged a launch/signing of the magazine which happened in London - the main special guest was Peter Atkins who was the writer of Hellbound and Hell On Earth (amongst others). Peter also wrote the foreword to Dean's Dante inspired anthology Circles Of Hell...
Circles Of Hell can be ordered here:
In December 2023 Dean produced (for DrAx Productions) - Black Time, a short film written/directed by Sharon Axcell.
Versatile actress Suzanne Kendall played Dexter, a relentless scientist who is working on a time machine when she discovers...ah, saying more would ruin the story but let's just say it was challenging but really exciting shoot.
Post production is near completion, with delivery end of September 2024 and then the festival run can begin !
Dean had a great time producing the movie, building an excellent team around him (and Sharon obviously !) and is looking forward to working with many of them again.
